Our Union is uniquely an apolitical organization serving the interest of the members having its apex body as All India SBI Staff Federation at Bank level and National Confederation of Bank Employees at the industry level. This Union proudly boasts of its memorable history of glorious battles, innumerous struggles and sacrifices made by its illtistrious predecessors like Shri Mrinal Kanti Bose, Shri Debabrata Ghosha, Shri Soumendra Nath Tagore, Dr. Meghnath Saha, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukhopadhyay, Shri Ajit Krishna Sen, Shri Mohanlal Majumder, etc. The charisma of the Union has always been strengthened by the innate strength of its members; unity and solidarity in achieving several benefits for the members ensuring better service conditions and emoluments through sustained struggles and through several bilateral Settlements/Agreements. Nothing had been given to the Bank employees by the Management at its sweet will but everything had been attained by the Union by its sheer bargaining power. The nature of the Bank Management, as it is always with every employer in every industry; dictating, domineering and exploiting the labour for maximizing the profit with scant concern for their genuine problems and troubles. Here lies the significance of an umbrella Organisation which ensures protection of hard-earned rights and privileges of the employees and always takes up their right causes for amelioration of all the difficulties, inconveniences and sufferings faced by them. As a pioneer Trade Union Organization, the role and function of our Union is exuberantly lively, buoyantly vigil, vividly transparent, psychologically demulcent and physically assuring and supportive so that the vast body of its membership can always remain attuned, vibrant, militant and spearheading.

Having 98 years of eventful and chequered history, this Organization had faced many a challenges and rough weather and had always outlived the crisis. By keeping the members interest in the fore it had dauntlessly championed their causes. Its gigantic stature and health have always been contributory in creating cavalcade of astute leadership who had always combated with the evil designs of the Management and Government combine and foiled all their attempts to keep it at a bay. We are confident that by our sheer bargaining power and collective effort we will thwart the ill attempt of the Government to privatise the Banking Sector and all the wheels of reforms which is baneful to the interest of the Bank workers.
